Rage is a manifestation of collective power. Rage is memory; it doesn’t forget harm, violence, or injustice. When women express rage, it is often dismissed, feared, or censured. We assert that rage is an expression of force; it surges when injustices occur, yet it fosters strength and action.
Since its inception, the United States has engaged in imperialist domination via territorial expansion, military force, and economic dominance. History has shown that women and queer people often bear the brunt of imperialist policies at home and abroad. As anti-imperialist feminists have proclaimed, the struggles against sexism, racism, and class exploitation are inseparable from imperialist domination. Imperialist military invasions abroad are connected to prisons, policing, and border enforcement at home. Our rebeldía is a call for dismantling the systems that oppress people across the world.
This exhibit is a collective expression of our rabia. Our rage is a mobilizing force. Our rage is justified. We resist silence. Ni perdón, ni olvido.
The International Women’s Day 2026 Organizing Committee at Centro Cultural de la Raza is seeking your support for an important restoration project. We are raising funds to remove and replace the serpiente (serpent) mural located on the exterior wood skirt along the top of the building. The current wood is deteriorating and coated with flaking lead-based paint, creating safety concerns and causing leaks throughout the structure.
The damaged panels will be carefully removed and replaced with new, primed surfaces. Once installed, additional funds will be needed to commission artists to create a new serpiente mural. Throughout the Centro’s history, only one woman-identified artist has contributed to its murals. In alignment with our International Women’s Day commitment, we aim to commission a team of women-identified artists to design and paint the new mural.
All proceeds directly support the Serpiente Mural Renovation Project. Your contribution helps preserve the Centro’s cultural legacy while creating space for new artistic voices to shape its future. Thank you for your support.
